Postponement Policies


The Circuit Court for Howard County handles requests for postponements differently, based on the case type. Please review the appropriate policy, based on the case type.

Civil/Domestic Postponements
If wish to request a postponement of a civil or domestic Court event, please read and follow the guidelines in the Civil/Domestic Postponement Policy.

If you are self-represented, you may use the civil Motion for Postponement.

Juvenile Postponements
If you wish to request a postponement of a juvenile Court event, please read and follow the guidelines in the Juvenile Postponement Policy.

Trial Date Conflicts
If you have a trial date conflict, please read the appropriate Circuit Court for Howard County postponement policy and former Chief Judge Robert C. Murphy's Revised Administrative Order for Continuances for Conflicting Case Assignments or Legislative Duties effective May 15, 1995.
