Marriage License Information
NOTE: If it is not convenient to visit
the Clerk's Office in the county where the marriage is to take place, you
may apply for a license using a Non-Resident
Affidavit form.

- If you apply in Talbot County you must
be married in Talbot County
- There is a $35.00 CASH fee
- There is a 48-hour waiting period from
the time you apply to when you can be married
- The license is issued the same day you
apply, and it is valid for 6 months (you must be married within 6 months
or the license will expire)

Information you will need to
apply:
- Full Names
- Physical, Permanent Address
- Age
- State of Birth
- Social Security Number (mandatory)
- If you have ever been married before
we need to know the County, State, Month, and Year of EACH Divorce
or Widow.

Marriage of Minors
- 16 or 17 years old must have the consent
of a parent or guardian (parent or guardian must be with the minor at the
time of application) or have a certificate from a licensed physician
stating that the physician has examined the woman to be married and found
that she is pregnant or has given birth.
- 15 years old must have the consent of
a parent or guardian (parent or guardian must be with the minor at the
time of application) and have a certificate from a licensed physician
stating that the physician has examined the woman to be married and found
that she is pregnant or has given birth.
- 14 years and younger may not marry.

Civil Ceremonies Performed by
the Clerk
- There is a $25.00 CASH fee paid
at the time of the ceremony
- Must set up an appointment to be married
- Marriage hours: 8:30 a.m. to 4:00
p.m., Monday thru Friday
- Location - The ceremony will be performed
on the Court House grounds
