Charging Language Database


The Maryland State Criminal Charge Code is available in text format for use by other agencies and the public for integrating the data into software applications.  For users that would like to view the Charging Language in a more user friendly format, please view the Charging Language pdf - revised 5/9/13.

This database and the commissioners manuals are updated every October 1st to reflect the new laws that were passed by the legislature.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR DOWNLOADING THE CRIMINAL CHARGE CODE DATABASE:

There are two file formats for the charging language database.  These files are in "zip" format.  Click on the file format desired to download it
Legacy Format

Revised: 6/1/13		 This file contains the cjiscode.txt file, a format used by some users for loading charges into their applications.  Details on the format are described in the readme.txt file included in the zip file.  Traffic charges are not available in this format.
NewFlat file Format (recommended)

Revised: 6/1/13 		The cjiscode.txt file contains data of current CJIS charges used by the Maryland Judiciary. More information is available in the readme.html file included in the zip file.

XML Format

This file contains the charging language in XML format.  Traffic charges are also included as a separate XML file.  More information is available in the readme.html file included in the zip file.
