Getting Into GEARS

Reported by Susan Howells, Chairperson of the GEARS Change Management Team

Tammy Sitar and attendees at the PeopleSoft training

Judiciary employees from around the state came to the Judiciary Education and Conference Center (JECC) in Annapolis on July 25 to learn more about PeopleSoft, the software component of the GEARS project.

GEARS is a Judiciary-wide program to replace, update and enhance existing business systems for:

  • Budget and Finance
  • Procurement
  • Human Resources

GEARS will provide support for local court accounting for Circuit and District Courts.

Participants heard from Tammy Sitar, deputy director of Budget and Finance and the GEARS project director, and Tara Dean and Dave Bogle, functional leads from Metaformers, who provided an overview of key features and functions, answered questions about how the software handles best-practice business processes, and demonstrated how to navigate the system.
