Mission Statement
The Maryland Court Interpreter Program is committed to providing the Maryland Judiciary with highly qualified and trained interpreters to ensure equal access to justice to all limited English proficiency individuals who seek it.

The Maryland Court Interpreter Program conducts training workshops, testing, and continuing education classes for court interpreters. Certification exams are offered in Arabic, Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian, Cantonese, French, Haitian Creole, Korean, Mandarin, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Turkish, and Vietnamese.
The Maryland Judiciary maintains a Court Interpreter Registry. All listed interpreters are either Certified or Eligible. Certified interpreters have passed an oral interpreter certification examination which tests their language and interpreting skills in 3 modes: Sight, Consecutive, and Simultaneous. At a minimum, all eligible interpreters have passed a written examination and many have passed an oral proficiency interview (OPI) in the foreign language and English. If you would like to receive an updated Court Interpreter Registry Release List, please e-mail your request to ksenia.boitsova@mdcourts.gov. If you are a private party who needs an interpreter for a court hearing, please contact the court where the hearing is scheduled directly.
