Maryland Judiciary Celebrates Constitution Day; Students Invited to Explore and Learn Online

(ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Sept. 16, 2013) In honor of Constitution Day on Sept. 17, the Maryland Judiciary has updated an interactive webpage to help students and citizens learn more about our system of government, the Constitution of the United States, and Maryland’s Constitution. The page can be accessed from the Judiciary’s home page, www.mdcourts.gov, and includes links to educational websites and online games.

“The Constitution of the United States is the framework for our country and our way of government,” said Maryland Court of Appeals Chief Judge Mary Ellen Barbera. “I invite students, teachers, and all our citizens to explore these online resources to learn more about our federal and state Constitutions.”

Constitution Day is held each year on Sept. 17, the date the Constitution was signed in 1787. Schools that receive federal funding are required, by law, to observe the day.
