Baltimore City Circuit Court for Monday, February 23, 2015

(BALTIMORE – February 20, 2015) The Baltimore City Circuit Court will be operating with a reduced staff on Monday, February 23, during funeral observances for Clerk Frank M. Conaway, Sr. His funeral is scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday.

“All members of our courthouse community are deeply saddened by the loss of our long-time Clerk, Frank M. Conaway, Sr.,” said Circuit Administrative Judge W. Michel Pierson. “The court will attempt to make accommodations to permit courthouse community members to observe his funeral while maintaining essential services to the public. We are, of course, obeying our mandate to provide citizens with access to justice, and in so doing, we also honor Frank Conaway’s lifelong dedication to serving the people in our community who rely on the courts for help, such as victims filing domestic violence petitions or children who need the court’s immediate assistance.”

In order to permit courthouse employees and judges to attend the funeral, the court will suspend proceedings during the period of the funeral, with the exception of essential operations. The clerk’s office will receive filings throughout the day.

Employees who wish to attend the funeral will be permitted up to four hours of administrative leave to do so. Jurors summoned for service on Monday will not be required to report, and will instead be rescheduled for a later date.
