Katherine Hager was elected Clerk of the Circuit Court for Queen Anne’s County in November of 2018 and officially took office in December of 2018. She previously held the position of the appointed Chief Deputy Clerk of the Circuit Court for Queen Anne’s County from 2006 to 2018. Prior to that appointment, she was the appointed Chief Deputy Clerk of the Circuit Court for Howard County. Beginning her career with the Maryland Judiciary in 1991, Katherine has worked in all areas of the Clerk’s Office.
The office of the clerk is the link between you and your court system and Katherine’s goal is to ensure that her office provides accurate and knowledgeable information in a prompt, efficient and professional manner to all who seek the services of the Clerk’s office for the Circuit Court for Queen Anne’s County.
Katherine is Chair of the Conference of Circuit Court Clerks and is a member of the Maryland Circuit Court Clerks’ Association where she has served as President, Vice President and Secretary of that Association. Katherine also serves on the Clerk’s Legislative Review Committee which reviews and provides input in any pending and passed legislation. She is a long-standing member of the Mid-Atlantic Association for Court Management (MAACM) since 1999. In 2011, through MAACM, she successfully completed a 5-year certificate program with the Michigan State University Judicial Administration program and received a certificate in Judicial Administration. In 2015 she graduated from the Institute for Court Management (ICM) program through the National Center for State Courts. Through that program she received the title of Certified Court Executive and Certified Court Manager. She is a faculty instructor with the Institute for Court Management program teaching case management courses to Judiciary employees.
A member of Queen Anne’s County Circuit Court’s Executive team, the previous clerk, Scott MacGlashan, appointed Katherine to be the project manager for Queen Anne’s County’s implementation of the state-wide case management system called Maryland Electronic Courts, also known as MDEC. She remains actively involved in MDEC processes as it continues to roll-out to other jurisdictions across Maryland. Katherine serves as the clerk representative of the 2nd Judicial Circuit on the State-wide MDEC User Focus Group and is a member of the Major Projects Committee for the Judiciary.
Katherine also serves on the Judicial Council and Conference of Circuit Court Judges. She is a previous member of the Court Technology Committee, along with the Non-Court Records Technology Subcommittee and Marriage in Maryland (MIM) Subcommittees.
Katherine graduated from Lynchburg College in Lynchburg, Virginia with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology. She is a member of the Centreville Rotary Club and a member of Centreville United Methodist Church. She is a Character Counts coach for Queen Anne’s County elementary schools. Her interests include boating and camping with her husband, Kenny and son.
