Canada Goose

(Branta canadensis)

The goose on the left, drawn largely in pastel about 1821, was cut out and pasted onto this composition, which Audubon probably completed in Boston in February of 1833. A copy of this drawing was signed “John J. Audubon of Louisianna Boston. Feby. 1833-” The general spring migration of the Canada Goose may be stated to commence with the first melting of the snows, but the precise time of its departure is always determined by the advance of the season.
