Mischa Green, a noted author of inspirational books will deliver the keynote address. We have invited a past graduate to sing, and a past graduate to speak about how he worked with the program and remains clean to this day. We are expecting to have around 15 clients participate in the ceremony which celebrates their clean time and having been in our program for one year. Families of the graduates are also invited to speak regarding the transformation they have seen in their loved ones. We present gift bags to all clients involved in the graduation. This violation of probation court is quickly growing in numbers and providing the Judge with an appropriate sentencing option. Adult Drug Court participants submit to random urines on a color wheel basis, attend IOP classes at the local addictions office, AA/NA meetings and regular court review hearings. A steering committee has been set and meets regularly--a staffing team also meets to develop multi-jurisdictional case plans to meet the risk and need of each client.

Brief Description: In celebration of "National Drug Court Month, the Baltimore City District Adult Drug Court will have several of its participants and team members volunteer at "Our Daily Bread" a hot meal program that serves more than a quarter million meals to the hungry people of Baltimore City each year. The meals consist of nutritional lunches which are distributed each day of the year. In addition, senior citizens and individuals with disabilities are served breakfast each weekday. Our team members and participants are going to receive a short one hour training on healthy food preparation and then spend the remainder of our time preparing and serving meals.

Brief Description: In celebration of “National Drug Court Month”, the Star Democrat Newspaper will interview the 3 judges involved in running our county drug courts—Judge Broughton M. Earnest and Retired Judge Sidney S. Campen Jr. of Circuit Court and Judge Hugh Adkins of District Court. In
just one year, Talbot County has expanded their Juvenile Drug Court to nearly 20 participants, \ initiated a Family Recovery Court and an Adult District Court Drug Court. A myriad of state and county agencies, citizens, law enforcement, non-profit agencies, and citizens/businesses work together
to make Talbot County Drug Courts a success. The Star Democrat has agreed to personally interview the judges and coordinator to examine drug courts in more detail—why they work, what are the successes in our county, what are the challenges. The judges and coordinator will explain the history
of drug courts, the current state of operations and plans for the future including a possible mental health drug court.
