ANNAPOLIS (November 17, 2003) – The Maryland Court of Appeals is once again proud to be the host for the final round of the Ninth Annual Department of Juvenile Services (DJS) Student Oratorical Contest. The contest will be held on November 18, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. in the Court of Appeals' courtroom, 361 Rowe Blvd., Annapolis. The theme for this year's contest is, "Making my dream a reality." "This is a wonderful opportunity for these young adults to express themselves in a positive manner," said Robert M. Bell, Chief Judge of the Maryland Court of Appeals, who will preside over the contest. "My hope is that this contest gives them the motivation to embrace a bright future by following their dream." The contest is open to youth at all DJS state and vendor operated facilities. Entrants first compete in their own facilities. Finalists from each location are then invited to Annapolis, where a program and reception is held in their honor. The top entrant from each facility will be awarded a medal; the first, second and third place winners at the Annapolis finals will receive trophies. The three-to-five minute presentations of each student's original work will be judged on content, delivery, poise, projection and flow. Members of the media are encouraged to attend. Please contact the Court Information Office at 410/260-1488 if you would like to attend, or for more information. #### |
