‘Holiday Court’ Program
Created in Howard County Circuit Court
(ELLICOTT CITY, MD—December
18, 2003) The Circuit Court for Howard County is pleased to announce the
1st annual “Holiday Court” program. The purpose of this program is to provide
quick access to the court system for parents seeking holiday visitation
with their children. No filings of any motions are necessary; the only
requirement is that there is a case presently within the Circuit Court
for Howard County, regardless of whether it is active or inactive.
The process is relatively simple. A facilitator will be available to help
litigants resolve holiday visitation disputes all day on December 18, 19,
22, 23, and 24. If litigants are unable to reach an agreement, a judge
will be available to hear the case. Each side will be provided with a brief
opportunity for argument and in the court’s discretion, there may be brief
testimony. A written order will be issued at the conclusion of the hearing.
If parties are represented by counsel, counsel should reach a mutually
agreeable date and time from the selection above and contact the family
law case coordinator at (410) 313-2225. If parties are unrepresented,
they should contact the coordinator directly and she will call the other
party for scheduling. Parties must appear in court on the scheduled date
and time. The Family Law Office, located on the top floor of the Circuit
Court building, will provide instructions where to proceed.
For further information about this program, please contact Lisa Mohink
at (410) 313-2225.
