GALLOWAY NAMED ADMINISTRATIVE JUDGE FOR CARROLL CIRCUIT COURT

ANNAPOLIS (June 3, 2003) – Judge Michael M. Galloway has been named administrative judge of the Circuit Court for Carroll County.

The appointment, effective June 2nd, was made by Chief Judge Robert M. Bell of the Court of Appeals.

Galloway replaces Judge Raymond E. Beck, Sr., who has been county administrative judge since 1991.

Judge Beck decided to turn over the administrative duties to his successor to ensure a smooth transition as he begins planning for his future retirement and so that he can assist Judge Galloway as he assumes his new administrative responsibilities.

“Judge Beck has been an exceptional administrative judge,” Judge Bell said.  “I am confident that Judge Galloway will continue the tradition of excellence in administration that marked Judge Beck’s tenure and that is a hallmark of the courts in Carroll County.”

Judge Galloway has been an associate circuit court judge in Carroll County since 1999.  He received his J.D. from the University of Baltimore law school and practiced law from 1978 until he was appointed to the bench.  He was a settlement conference master for domestic relations from 1996 to 1999.
