Washington County Clerk Elected
Chair of Conference of Circuit Court Clerks
(Annapolis, MD - August 3, 2005) Clerks and Chief Deputy Clerks across
the state have elected Dennis
Weaver, Clerk of the Circuit Court for Washington County, to a two-year
term as Chair of the Conference of Circuit Court Clerks.
The Conference offers advice to Maryland Court of Appeals Chief Judge
Robert M. Bell and the Administrative Office of Courts (AOC). The Conference
focuses on technology, personnel policies, records management, legislation,
employee professional development, and other issues affecting the operations
of the offices of the circuit court clerks.
“I’m honored to again be chosen by my colleagues to lead
this important group,” said Weaver, who is serving his fifth term
as Clerk for the Circuit Court for Washington County. “Clerks’
offices have made a lot of progress in the last eight years through
this vehicle, and we appreciate the opportunity for input Chief Judge
Bell has given us.”
Weaver has served on the 11-member Conference and many of its committees
since its inception, and previously served as Chair in 1998 and 1999.
As Conference Chair, Weaver sits on the Maryland Judicial Council, which
is chaired by Chief Judge Bell and includes leaders of each of Maryland's
court levels, both judges and staff.
