Prince George’s County Circuit Court Adult Drug Court Celebrates Tenth Anniversary with Special Commencement Ceremony
(UPPER MARLBORO, Md. – May 10, 2012) The Adult Drug Court of the Prince George’s County Circuit Court will celebrate its tenth anniversary with a special commencement ceremony on Thursday, May 17. The event takes place during National Drug Court Month. The media is invited to attend.
“Drug courts work, and we want to celebrate with the Prince George’s County adult drug court team, graduates and alumni to recognize 10 years of innovative justice,” said Prince George’s County Circuit Judge Sheila R. Tillerson Adams, administrative judge for Prince George’s County and the Seventh Judicial Circuit. “Drug courts are the place where treatment and justice meet to give substance abusers the opportunity and environment they need to experience a life of sobriety void of criminal behavior.”
During the commencement and celebration, new graduates and alumni will talk about how choosing to take part in drug court has changed their lives. A video about Prince George’s County’s drug court program will premiere during the event. (View a clip from that video here.)
