Baltimore City District Court Welcomes “Matrix” Actor Harry Lennix to Help Celebrate Drug Court’s 20th Anniversary

Actor Harry Lennix

(BALTIMORE – June 13, 2014) Maryland’s first drug court is turning 20 this year. To help celebrate this milestone, actor Harry Lennix from “The Matrix Reloaded,” “The Matrix Revolutions,” and the TV series “24” will be the guest speaker at the 20th annual graduation for the Baltimore City District Court Drug Treatment Court on Monday, June 16. Lennix, an All Rise Ambassador for the National Association of Drug Court Professionals (NADCP), is currently starring in the NBC smash TV show “The Blacklist” and also starred in the Oscar-winning film “Ray" and, most recently, “Man of Steel.” The media is invited to attend.

The rigorous drug treatment court program combines judicial oversight with intensive treatment and supervision. Baltimore City District Judge Jamey H. Hueston and Baltimore City Circuit Judge Karen C. Friedman will preside over the graduation ceremony. U.S. Rep. Elijah E. Cummings, congressman from Maryland’s 7th District, is the keynote speaker.

Maryland’s first drug treatment courts began in 1994 in Baltimore City District Court and Circuit Court. Since then, the program has expanded to include more than 40 drug treatment and problem-solving courts throughout the state.
