Fire Damage Restoration Efforts Underway; Services Available at Courthouse East

(BALTIMORE – April 29, 2016) The Baltimore City Circuit Court Clarence M. Mitchell, Jr. Courthouse, 100 N. Calvert Street, remains closed and is not currently scheduled to re-open until Monday, May 9, 2016, at 8:30 a.m.

The Mitchell Courthouse has been closed since Wednesday, April 27, 2016, due to damage caused by a fire that occurred on the evening of Tuesday, April 26, 2016. The Baltimore City Department of General Services (DGS) has notified court officials that fire restoration work will continue through next week. DGS plans to allow operations to resume in the Mitchell Courthouse on May 9, 2016.

Court proceedings and services, including licensure and weddings, have been moved to the Courthouse East building located across the street at 111 N. Calvert Street.

Jurors currently serving in ongoing trials must continue to report as instructed by the trial judge. Individuals who received notices to appear for trials scheduled on May 2 through May 6, 2016, should report to The War Memorial Building, 101 North Gay Street, Baltimore, Maryland, instead of the Clarence M. Mitchell, Jr. Courthouse.
