District Court of Maryland Chief Judge John P. Morrissey, in consultation with Maryland Court of Appeals Chief Judge Mary Ellen Barbera, appointed Judge Wilson to the position of administrative judge, effective August 1.

Judge Wilson succeeds Judge Alexandra N. Williams, who is retiring August 1.  Judge Williams was appointed to the Baltimore County District Court on August 30, 1994 and has served as administrative judge for District 8 since June 3, 2002.

WilsonJudge Wilson was appointed to the Baltimore County District Court in August 2001.  She began her legal career as a litigation associate with Gordon, Feinblatt, Rothman, Hoffberger, and Hollander.  She has represented the Department of Social Services in termination of parental rights cases for severely abused and neglected children and has taught at the University of Maryland School of Social Work as part of a state certification program for case workers.  She practiced as an insurance defense attorney with the Maryland Automobile Insurance Fund (MAIF) and has served as deputy counsel with the Office of the Attorney General, where she supervised litigation for the Maryland Insurance Administration.

“This is an exciting time of change and advancement for the Judiciary and the District Court,” Judge Wilson said.  “I believe we can work together to champion these changes and create a promising future for District 8 and the citizens in our community.  I feel very privileged to serve in this capacity, and I thank Chief Judge Morrissey for this opportunity.”

“I am very grateful to Judge Williams for her service and excellent leadership, and I have every confidence that Judge Wilson will continue to improve the operations of the Baltimore County District Court,” Chief Judge Morrissey said.  “Judge Wilson has a proven record of leadership and management that will help us move forward to provide optimum service for the people in Baltimore County and throughout Maryland.”

“Judge Wilson is highly qualified to take on the leadership role of administrative judge,” Chief Judge Barbera said.  “I look forward to working with her as we move forward to improve the Judiciary, provide better service to our fellow Marylanders, and advance justice for all who come to the courts.”
