Charles County Circuit Court Holds Celebration for Family Recovery Court Program
(LA PLATA, MARYLAND – June 15, 2017) – The Circuit Court for Charles County will hold a celebration for its Family Recovery Court program on Friday, June 16. The event will enable current and former program participants and staff to celebrate the Family Recovery Court’s role in helping Charles County families impacted by substance abuse issues. News media are invited to attend.
Charles County Circuit Judge Helen I. Harrington will serve as the presiding judge. Maryland Senator Thomas M. Middleton, Maryland Delegate Edith J. Patterson, Charles County Commissioners President Peter F. Murphy, and Colonel Edmund Barrett, Outreach Director in Anne Arundel County and Southern Maryland for U. S. Senator Chris Van Hollen, will attend the celebration. Current and former program participants will serve as guest speakers during the event.
The Charles County Circuit Court Family Recovery Court program provides intensive support and treatment for parents whose substance abuse problems prevent them from providing safe and appropriate care for their children. Eighteen participants have completed the Family Recovery Court program successfully since it began in 2011.
