NOTICE: Updates made to Maryland Judiciary’s online court records
database to reflect amendment to Maryland Rule 16-910

ANNAPOLIS, MD – As of Thursday, March 8, 2018, the Maryland Judiciary’s Information Systems Division (JIS) successfully implemented and tested programs that will allow the names of police officers to appear online through the Maryland Judiciary’s online court database system, known as CaseSearch.

The change is a direct result of the emergency meeting of the Maryland Court of Appeals that took place on Tuesday, March 6, to adopt an amendment to restore former language to what is now called Maryland Rule 16-910.

The amendment took effect earlier this week, but due to the amount of work associated with reversing programming changes to the online court records database, court officials estimated the work would be completed by the end of the week. JIS was able to finish the project one day ahead of schedule.

CaseSearch provides the general public with access to information from Maryland case records as described in the Maryland Rules on Access to Court Records (Rules 16-901 through 16-912). In January 2006, CaseSearch was introduced to satisfy information requests commonly received in the court clerks’ offices. CaseSearch includes detailed case information for all Maryland circuit and district courts.
