Goodwill Industries of the Chesapeake’s Lower Shore Career Development Center honors adult drug treatment court program

The Goodwill Industries of the Chesapeake’s Lower Shore Career Development Center honored the adult drug treatment court program for Wicomico County Circuit Court for its support of Goodwill’s programs. The drug court team received a certificate of appreciation during a graduation in December 2017.

The adult drug treatment court’s mission is to reduce substance abuse and criminal activity while holding offenders accountable by providing comprehensive, court-supervised treatment that improves the effectiveness of the criminal justice system and the quality of life for all citizens of the county.

“They are certainly a huge asset to our program, participants and community as a whole,” said drug court coordinator Lindsay Tayman.

Goodwill Industries recognized the drug court team at a recent graduation ceremony that honored individuals, who have completed their career training programs. Those programs include job readiness, customer service, and computer skills.

Tayman said the Goodwill Career Development Center provides resources in the community and plays an important role in the court’s programs.

“They provide job readiness training, assistance with job search and placement and other career-oriented training programs, such as education after high school,” said Tayman. “They work with our program participants to overcome obstacles their criminal history may present in obtaining gainful employment and work to develop relationships with employers in our community.”

This is the first time the adult drug treatment court program for Wicomico County Circuit Court has received this certificate.
