How do I apply to become a Notary Public?
Applications for Notary Public Commission can be obtained from the Secretary of State in Annapolis, Maryland or you may download the application at the Secretary of State's web site.
Once the application has been submitted and approved, you will be notified to appear before the Clerk of the Circuit Court at the Courthouse at 30512 Prince William Street, Princess Anne, MD 21853 to take the oath of office and receive your Notary Commission. There is an $11.00 fee payable to the Clerk of the Circuit Court at the time you take the oath of office.

How do I get an Authentication of a Notary Public?
Authentication may be obtained in person or by mail at the Courthouse at 30512 Prince William Street, Princess Anne, MD 21853. The Clerk of the Circuit Court for Somerset County authenticates a Notary Public from Somerset County only. The fee is $5.00 per authentication. Checks should be made payable to the Clerk of the Circuit Court.
